Happy New Year

First blog of the new year. Hope you are doing well and the start 0f 2010 is going great. I am going to blog at least once a month. Hmmm...sounds a lot like a resolution, doesn't it? Let's see how it goes.
From a pretty rainbow to a pretty dramatic sunset.

Heeeeeerrrs Autumn

Yes, the cooler days and nights are upon us. The only redeeming part is the beauty of the leaves as they turn from fresh green to glorious shades of red, yellow, and orange. I often thought it seemed odd that the leaves look their most beautiful just before they die and fall off the tree that supported them all summer long. But anyway, here are a few scenes of water, trees, and rocks in the crisp October air. I really like the one tree that appears as if it is trying to escape the cold water and the roots are crawling up onto the embankment.

More posies...

To anyone that may have seen my last blog, I apologize for the blurred marigold picture.
Here are a few new pics I took last week. A lonely little petunia, a sunflower, and a butterfly resting on a marigold.

Gotta love the colors in this one.

Sad but true summer is coming to an end. I'm still going to hold on tight to these last few weeks. If anyone remembers my photos from Jan 15, I had taken some winter pictures from the top of just one of the mountains I have to travel to and from where I work. Well, I thought I would stop when there was more of my favorite color, green, to be seen in the valley.
I'm throwing in some more floral pictures as well. A couple of roses, a hydrangea, and a marigold. Enjoy.

Nature's floral arrangement

While I personally don't think of myself as anything other than a lover of nature who just happens to find some extraordinary subjects to photograph I have been getting great positive reactions to pictures I have taken recently. It's exciting and makes me happy that others like what I do for fun. Flowers seem to be the flavor this month and there are some real beauties out there. Roses, an aster, and irises top this blog and I had to put in the butterfly that landed on the trail I was walking on that day.
Have a look at some of my newest subjects and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Ok, I'm back on the scene of the bloggers. I've been clicking the old camera lens but just haven't gotten around to posting anything for a while. With that said here are a few I took a couple of weeks ago as I was wondering around. I think I will have to get a book to tell me what all the wild flowers I have taken pictures of are. Some I know but not all.
The one of the cat in the cornfield was funny because he must have thought he was well hidden when he walked into the tall stalks so I wouldn't see him. It must have been that or else he just hammed it up for the camera and gave me a great scene.
The hummingbird was nice enough to sit for its portrait and even gave me an action shot.
That's all for now. Hopefully, I will be back soon with more nature and whatever else I see thurmylens.
